Masaryk & America: Testimony of a Relationship was written to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Masaryk's death on Septem Thomas G. Masaryk embodied the ties between the people of America and of the Czechoslovakia of his day, as the documentation in this work illustrates. Masaryk was born to a working-class family in the predominantly Catholic city of Hodonín, Moravia. His father Jozef Masaryk, a carter, was a Slovak from the Hungarian part of Austria-Hungary Austro-Hungarian and Czechoslovak statesman, sociologist and philosopher, who as the keenest advocate of Czechoslovak independence during World War I /5.
